On this site a page is dedicated to chain fountains. This natural phenomenon is a paradox. On the one hand it's rooted in the chain segments' impaired mobility while the fountain's dynamics evokes an impression of freedom. However, in human civilizations chains are connoted with captivity, be it in a physical or a spiritual sense. Another page of this site addresses the contemporary fascism in Western societies, in particular, the efforts of state organs and pro-government mass media to discredit and marginalize critical opinions. This reflects the Zeitgeist for adaptation, not to swim against the tide. It amounts to censorship. The suppression of undesirable media and the self-censorship in the minds of people who may doubt but do not dare to express it publicly.

Roughly a century ago (1915), editor Georges Clemenceau changed the name of his daily newspaper "L'homme libre" (The Free Man) to "L'homme enchaȋné" (The Shackled Man) in response to censorship. This later gave rise to the satirical magazine "Le canard enchaȋné" (The Shackled Duck), which is still published today.

Below are ten short video sequences that are playing with the dystopian Gleichschaltung of the people. They are chained and move synchronously. They become indistinguishable and loose their individual facial expression. They move like robots without showing any emotions, faces are resembling masks.
