"The purpose of methodological inquiry is not to find a single principle underlying all knowledge, but to highlight the emergence of complex thought—a form of thought that cannot be reduced to either science or philosophy, but which facilitates their interconnection through dialogic loops."

Edgar Morin, 1982

Morin saw complexity in thoughts as a kind of tapestry, referring to the Latin word 'complexus' (weaving together). Threads of thought are different, ideally complementary, and an overall picture emerges by connecting them. Referring to the 're' in the verb 'relier' (to connect) Morin emphasized that connected thoughts should return upon themselves, forming loops. Morin claimed:

"Knowledge today must have tools, fundamental concepts that will enable us to connect.”

Every serious scientist attempts to falsify hypotheses, results, and inferences by applying different, independent methods. Every serious scientist welcomes diverging findings and interpretations that might challenge own conclusions. Every serious scientist is aware of his own limitations and would never claim truth. Every serious scientist is aware of the transient nature of our understanding of reality.

And yet science is abused by authorities, their affiliated organizations (NGOs, media), and those who profit from certain regulations. The slogan "follow THE science", invoked by politicians and activists in vaccination campaigns (COVID19) and in the enforcement of CO2 emission targets is both incredibly naive and cynical, a slap in the face to every not corrupted scientist.
