Acknowledgement

The German political judiciary, which reminded me of Tucholsky's poem. On 23th October 2025, publicist and emeritus media scientist Nobert Bolz had to endure a house search. The reason was a satirical post on X from 20th January 2024 that referred to an article in the journal TAZ. He wrote:
"Good translation of “woke”: Germany, wake up."
This literal rendering of “Deutschland erwache!” clearly echoes Tucholski's anti-fascist warning poem, not the Nazis' slogan of exclusion and mobilization. The persecution of Mr. Bolz only makes sense if one assumes that critical voices should be intimidated. This is indeed reminiscent of Nazi methods.

Context

This is neither an equation of Nazis with "wokists" nor a trivialization of the former, but rather a comparison. Both are characterized by fascist ideologies and both have (had) detrimental impact on democracy, liberty, prosperity and wealth. Wokism can be understood as a generic term for ideologies such as critical race theory or (trans)gender or cancel culture, which activists are trying to impose with the imperative of the absolute on a more or less silent majority. Dissenting opinions are discredited as right-wing extremist. We see a similar approach in politics, where the "democratic" parties are pretending to defend democracy (they call it "our democracy"). The strongest opposition force is demonized with flimsy arguments and excluded from democratic discourse.

Even the German Federal President, committed ex officio to political neutrality, ends his speech on 9th November 2025 with the call "Let's do what needs to be done". Without naming the AfD, he connotes it with extremists, anti-democrats and anti-Semites such as the anti-Semitism imported from Islamic cultures. It is the division of the population that is being driven by such "owners of democracy" and the consequences of such calls are becoming apparent, for example in Giessen at the end of November, where the true anti-democrats showed their ugly face. They have heeded and interpreted Steinmeier's call to action.

These hypocritical protagonists of "their democracy" don't seem to notice that they are acting the way they are accusing their critics of being fascists. Indeed, it seems they are going to spark a civil war …

Furthermore, postmodernists and politics are hijacking science by giving it absolution to have described the truth, their truth. They ignore that the sciences represent a perpetual of trial and error, of hypothesis and experiment, and that their results represent just snapshots in the process of finding the truth. Another good example is the climate apocalypse, allegedly proven by THE science (nota bene: anthropogenic climate change is real and prevents Earth from cooling).
